It has just been revealed that the two-part season finale of Lost will be called “The Incident.”

This video is the only time we’ve heard the “incident” explicitly mentioned before now, although it has certainly been one of the central mysteries for the castaways (and the viewers) since they first found the hatch and were told by Desmond that they have to input numbers into a computer to save the world.

The previous four season finales were called “Exodus”, “Live Together, Die Alone”, “Through the Looking Glass”, and “There’s No Place Like Home.” While each of these titles makes sense after seeing their respective episodes, “The Incident” is the first one we’ve gotten which (hopefully) tells us exactly which of our major questions it is going to answer, and will hopefully be the first season finale to answer more questions than it asks.

I am very excited by this title, but also very saddened by the fact that this episode is the last season finale we will ever get (next season’s finale will actually be the series finale). I’m also sure that the cliffhanger at the end of this episode will be the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. How could it not be? I love this title.

Also, although we’ve already lost Charlotte this season, I know at least one more major character, and one character that the producers call “major-ish,” are going to die before season’s end. I do not know the actual identity of either character who will die, but I can tease you with the fact that I do know that the major character who dies will be a WHITE, ADULT MALE and will not be Jack, Locke, Frank, Hurley or Richard.
